Oatly to Launch Its Products in Sustainable Packaging for European Customers

Oatly, a leading oat drink company, is going to offer sustainable packaging for European customers in partnership with Amazon. Set to be launched later in 2023, Oatly's popular products such as Barista Edition, Light, Semi, Whole, "No" Sugars, and Mini Barista, will be available on Amazon in key markets such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, and Belgium. Ahlstrom in Partnership with Sustainable Packaging Producer The Paper People Develop Fiber-Based Frozen Food Packaging

Sustainable, paper-based frozen food packaging is now a reality! Ahlstrom and The Paper People LLC have co-developed and launched an innovative and sustainable solution for frozen food packaging. This new line of fully fiber-based, recyclability-certified packaging is specifically designed to replace traditional fossil-based plastic and films for frozen food packaging.

“This new package is designed to be used on existing packaging equipment including vertical form-fill-seal, stand-up pouches, and SOS style systems,” said Neil Bretl, President for The Paper People. “The package can also be used in flow wrap and bundle wrap applications. PepsiCo to Replace Plastic Rings on Beverage Multipacks with Recyclable Paper-Based Designs

In an effort to promote sustainable packaging and reduce waste, PepsiCo is taking a major step towards replacing plastic rings in North America with paper-based solutions for their multipacks. This commitment is part of PepsiCo's pep+ (PepsiCo Positive) sustainable packaging initiative, which aims to ensure that packaging never becomes waste. By transitioning from plastic to paper-based rings, PepsiCo is making a significant contribution to environmental conservation and promoting a more sustainable future.

PepsiCo will use paperboard wraps and paperboard clips for its multipacks in place of traditional plastic rings. This conversion to more sustainable packaging will include brands like Pepsi, Pepsi Zero, MTN DEW, Starry, Gatorade, amongst others. It will also include 7Up in Canada. The new packaging is easy to implement on shelves for customers, has a consumer-friendly branded design, is made from recycled materials, and is recyclable. Mondi and Fressnapf Introduce Recyclable Packaging for Dry Pet Food Range

Mondi and Fressnapf, Europe’s market leader for pet supplies, have made the move to recyclable mono-material packaging for a dry pet food range. The new packaging has been designed to offer premium brand appeal and product protection, supporting a circular economy.

Both companies partnered to develop the packaging using advanced printing technology, providing standout appeal with the benefit of using fewer inks and chemicals. Robinson to Create Packaging for Global Designer Estee Lauder

Chesterfield manufacturer Robinson has been chosen to create luxury packaging for world-renowned designer, Estee Lauder’s ‘Aveda Parti Pris’ and ‘Mini and More’ boxes.

Robinson Paperbox Packaging has been commissioned to manufacture 2 promotional boxes for Estee Lauder’s premium haircare brand Aveda. Moonvalley and Billerud Partner to Launch Protein Bars in New Paper Packaging

Sports nutrition brand Moonvalley has partnered with Billerud to launch new paper packaging for its chocolate-dipped protein bars. Moonvalley is making a transition from using plastic packaging to paper packaging for its raspberry and cocoa chocolate-dipper protein bars.

Johan Björkman, Moonvalley CEO, said, “The new packaging material from Billerud is revolutionary for a market that has only had plastic and metal as previous alternatives. DS Smith Develops Environmentally Friendly Trays and Lids for Sushi Brand Eat Happy

DS Smith has developed environmentally friendly trays and lids for sushi brand Eat Happy. The new format is made from corrugated cardboard and covers many sizes including single-serve and party platters. DS Smith said the project used its Circular Design Metrics approach and the trays are claimed to save more than 1,250 TPY of plastic. Read more at Packagingnews.co.uk.

Snap-Closing Bowl Lids Made from Paperboard Developed by Graphic Packaging and Picadeli

Graphic Packaging International and Picadeli hope to eliminate an annual 250 metric tons of plastic from the latter’s supply chain with a new range of snap-closing paperboard lids for its paper-based salad bowls.

Set to replace the entire line of plastic lids from Picadeli’s packaging line, the lids are apparently made from renewable, plant-based fiber sourced from sustainably managed forests and claim to be recyclable in household paper waste streams. Read more at Packagingeurope.com.
