Industry Calls on Congress to Extend BTC

As the industry anticipates how market conditions could change under the next administration, efforts to ensure continuity of business in the absence of guidance on the forthcoming Clean Fuel Production Credit (CFPC) are intensifying. The expiry of the biomass-based diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blender’s tax credits (BTC) on 31 December has been on the way for more than two years, but the market has been unable to value the new credit. The call for the BTCs to be extended by one year as a means of bridging the gap has grown louder, with industry groups reaching out to Congress last week for the situation to be remedied.
